We partnered with Girl Scouts LA to run a DIY flashlight workshop. Girls built a circuit for the first time and learnt about our co-design process and our impact model.

Impact:

We measure science self-efficacy (what kids know and believe about themselves) before and after every session.

Before we started, we asked the girls whether they could picture themselves becoming an engineer one day, 50% said no.

An hour later, after building a working flashlight from scratch, every single one had changed their answer.

• 77% left understanding electricity better than when they arrived.
• 100% wanted to come back.

Savanna, who said “I love Ambessa because it was made for a good cause”.
